Dr. Matthew C. Mitchell is an Associate Professor of International Business and Strategy at Drake University, and Founding Partner of Bâton Global LLC (www.batonglobal.com), a boutique consulting firm that provides strategy expertise and thought leadership to large to mid-sized companies around the world.
Matthew served on the AIB Southeast USA Executive Committee from 2010-2015 and has also served as Executive Editor of the journal International Business: Research, Teaching, and Practice.
Matthew earned his PhD in International Business from the University of South Carolina – the world’s leading program in international business. His research investigates the relationship between firm strategy, politics and religion in global markets. He has written and published extensively on these topics. Before pursuing his PhD, he worked in the telecommunications industry in America and abroad as part of a team that developed the world’s first smartphones for Nokia, Ericsson, Sony and Symbian.
Matthew has advised Fortune 500 companies, governments, educational institutions and non-profit organizations around the world. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and was awarded the Madelyn Levitt Teacher of the Year Award – Drake University’s highest honor for excellence, integrity and enthusiasm in the classroom.
