Welcome!

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Academy of International Business-Southeast USA Chapter's website!  As the most active Chapter in the United States, we are committed to supporting and contributing to our parent organization, the Academy of International Business-World.

Our 2007 Annual Meeting was held November 7-9, in Nashville, Tennessee, in conjunction with the Southern Management Association, a chapter of the Academy of Management.  As in past years, our organization and annual meetings continue to grow and prosper with a variety of international research presentations from multidisciplinary perspectives.  Our sincere thanks go to George Nakos (Clayton State University), last year’s Conference Chair, and Margaret Thompson (Clayton State University), Proceedings Editor, for their outstanding contributions to a very successful gathering.  We are delighted to welcome this year's Conference Chair, Sue Godar (William Paterson University) and Gary Knight (Florida State University) as Proceedings Editor.  The conference was just plain exciting!  More than 70 authors representing 45 universities and companies from 15 states and numerous countries around the globe were represented.  The Executive Committee is pleased with the high level of quality and the breadth of content across the presentations at this year’s conference.  We were also able to reward a student with the William J. Ziegler Annual Best Student Paper Award. The conference’s content supports our Chapter’s mission to encourage and assist research activities that advance knowledge of international business operations, increase the available body of teaching materials, and facilitate the exchange of information and ideas among educators and between business and academic fields.  We thank all of the authors, reviewers, session chairs, and discussants for their hard work and commitment to the Chapter.

Also consistent with and to further our mission, the Executive Committee voted unanimously to develop and publish a peer-reviewed journal – International Business: Research, Teaching, Practice.  Volume 1, No. 1 was printed in Summer 2007.  Papers for Volume 2 are currently under review, and will be published in Summer 2008.  The Call for Papers for Volume 3 (2009) is posted on this website in the Call for Papers for our 2008 Annual Meeting.

We encourage you to become involved with the AIB-SE as a paper reviewer, discussant, or session chair for the 2008 Annual Meeting in St. Petersburg Beach, FL.  Once again, we will meet in conjunction with the Southern Management Association, so our members could attend two conferences on one travel budget!

Whether you are already an active member of AIB-SE or considering membership in our organization, we thank you for considering AIB-SE as an outlet for your empirical, research, and pedagogical efforts.

 Sincerely,

Carolyn
